"The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. " ~Erma Bombeck Families ties bind. Sometimes they bind our heart strings; unfortunately sometimes they bind our dreams and hopes. We hope that your family experience is an enriching one. Either way, we'll have resources that will help. Resources on family traditions, dealing with divorce, raising toddlers, dealing with the death of a loved one, and much more.

It's strange - you never hear mention of cloth diapers these days. People think they're obsolete, a thing of the past - certainly not part of mothering in the modern world. But many mamas are missing out. Don't go about your children's diapering days without knowing about the recent revolution in… |

As a mother of six I spend a lot of money and time on music lessons. I have often wondered, “Is it worth it.” How is a child transformed from mediocre to proficient then to accomplished? If the practice of visualization works in the world of business and success principles, then it stands to reason that the same principle of “believing before seeing” holds true when discussing the potential of our children. The next time you sit at the piano with your child try this little exercise. |

As a mother, listening to my children attempt to play the piano or violin, I have often wondered, is it worth it? I grow weary of listening to the “how come I have to practice? It’s not fair! I hate the piano.” So, just how do the “great” mothers of the world inspire their children to want to practice and even enjoy it? For me, I would settle for just practicing with no complaining. |

Ahh… a day without diapers. Does it even seem possible at this point? Don’t worry, it will come, but of course, not without potty training first. Potty training can be a very stressful time for both parents and children, and will vary in time depending on the child’s interest, and even whether the child is a boy, or a girl. Some say that boys are harder, and some say that girls are harder. Personally, I have been around both, but I have only potty trained a boy. It was the most stressful time in my life, as even though he was interested in becoming a “big boy”, he still wanted the pull-ups and diapers. So, as the mother of a fully trained young boy, I thought I would share my advice so that just maybe one less mother will have to go through the stress that I did! |
